| Solar Servo from Hobby Partz? 400 oz for $23.
Anyone else see this. I have been running their EXI servos in my short course trucks for a while, and they hold up well, are reasonably priced and take the 8 volts I have the BEC set to without issue. They just were a little lacking in overall power for a crawler. This new servo might be the one. Solar Servo D772 0.22@4.8v Digital Metal Gear 64 Looks interesting. I have a couple coming, and plan to torture one to death just to see. I probably will not give up my 7980 servos on my super and 2.2, but if these prove to be anywhere near as good an overall product as the EXI servos they will be my new go to servo for everything else. The Hitec servos on my wraith are having issues centering and they just came back from Hitec, so these might go on it. Updates to follow next week when they show up. Does anyone know of a nice standard way to test a servo. Apples to low cost apples. I am thinking a short servo arm picking up weight. Maybe compare it to my 7950th on the wraith. |

Interesting. I'm curious to see how they do. I'm not sure what a good test would be other than kicking ones ass out on the rocks/trails for an extended period of time. Picking up weight is also a way to do it but, you'll have to pick up weight with other servos for a comparison. If you abuse it on the rocks/trails you could easily compare it to other servos board members have already abused and have been proven to work. |

IMHO, and personal experiance, those ??? marks are pre-release numbers they put out during testing when they announce to vendors to start posting up the descriptions of the up-and-comming new product, and tend to be on the "in their favor" side of the scale. They are "best case scenario" calculations, and rarely translate to real world physics when it comes down to pushing the specs given. The problem is, untill someone tests and challenges those numbers, they will leave them on the high side. I would wager the vendors rarely get the updated spec revisions, if ever, anyway. I personaly substract 15% of any given spec, especially input voltage on servos, to keep more realistic values. Stuff gives up the magic smoke a lot less that way too............... |

I seen these a few days ago as well, seriously thinking about grabbing 1 or 2. For the money it'd be fun to try them out.

I've got one on the way. In any case it should be a step up from the cheap $10 hobbypartz servos I'm running :p The timing is pretty awesome. I was just looking into new servos for my crawlers. I don't mind too much spending some cash on a servo for my xr10, but my honcho gets the living crap bashed out of it, and I just wasn't comfortable spending almost 100 bucks on a servo for that.

I guess I'll have to try one out too. Building a 2nd testing rig and it would be perfect. Thanks for the good find!!

Guess Ill have to try one as well. Hell even if it performs at half of the proclaimed 400+ oz thats still 200+ for 23 dollars. I think thats worth it IMO. Well here I go over to the shopping cart. |

Meh, speed really isn't a big issue, unless you're throwing it in a SC truck or something a bit faster than a crawler/trail truck. Just my opinion.

I just got mine. It uses 23t horns, like the EXI servos.
