Default Castle BEC wiring question

Right now I have my BEC tapped into the power wires on the ESC, which of course plug into the batt. My question is, could they instead be tapped into the power wires coming off the motor? I'm looking at some different wiring options to clean everything up on my Wraith. My ESC is a HH BR-XL, in case that matters. I don't see this as being a problem, as it's (BEC) just pulling power, and no power is supplied to any component until the lipo is plugged in anyhow, but I have NO experience with a BEC.

Thanks guys!!

No I don't think you can do that because the way your going to wire it the power wire has to be removed from the reciever wire from the esc. Basically the bec powers the servo and the esc powers your throttle so you have to have it hooked up to your battery lead. Hope this helps and if i'm wrong someone well chime in.

It won't work. Think about it.

if you hooked it up to the motor leads you would only have power at your receiver and servo when you are on the throttle, but to get on the throttle you'd need to have receiver power. so no, it will not work. and even if it would power it, the voltage applied to the motor is varied by your throttle input so the voltage would then be varied on the BEC as well.

Wow... can tell someone was up late playing Santa. The throttle's effect on voltage never even crossed my mind.

Thanks guys!!

Posts 3 & 4 cover why it won't work, post 5 shows you understand, post 6 is redundant.

Now, go have fun.

Connecting the BEC to the power wires INTO the ESC would work, they would only have power when the battery is plugged in. It would also be direct battery power.

You're saying that like its an option. Where else would you connect it?

Well, it would work, sorta. It would also leave a load on the battery 24/7 with no LVC.
