| BR-XL not recognized
My BR-XL is not being recognized by my Castle Link. I'm wondering if it's because I have it and the BEC wired together. Is there any software that needs to be downloaded beforehand for the BR-XL? My assumption was that it would use the existing Castle firmware to program. ESC works just fine otherwise. Thanks!! |

I have nothing to add but would like to hear other's response. So a Holmes product will work with the castle link?! And the Castle firmware?!

Yes, a BRXL should be picked up by the CC link. Do you have the ESC powered by the CC Link or with the battery as well?? |

I've tried it both ways... first with the batt unplugged, then with the batt plugged in. Either way, it's not being recognized by the Link. Red light on the Link attachment never turns green.

My suggestion would be to disconnect the esc and bec from each other. Then try it again.

IMO I would get a USB cable to link the field card to your computer which I believe it comes with. Download the CC Link program and then try and read the ESC that way. Good luck.

Did you try flipping the CC Link PC board when you connect to the ESC??? The link board has a "omega" & - on it, the - goes to ESC black or brown.

Yes sir... as a matter of fact, I checked every wire set connecting into the ESC both ways, just to make sure I hadn't got confused and was trying to hook up the servo. Nothing. Now more problems. I just reconnected the + & - on the BEC to the + & - on the ESC, as before, and now I have no throttle. I've switched every wire set around in all receiver receptacles... nothing. I even threw in a spare receiver to make sure my receiver in the Wraith had not gone bad. No dice. Looks like I'll be tearing everything down tomorrow and starting from scratch. One thing I'm curious about... I disconnected the red wire from the ESC to receiver connection, per the BEC's instruction manual. Could this be causing my Link to not recognize the ESC?

Yes all the wires need to be connected to castle link. Sometimes a different usb port will work also. Wiggle the connection as well, my link is real finicky

I was having this issue yesterday and found if I connected the USB and the link, then plugged the ESC in and opened the Castle link software then and only then, plug in the battery, it saw he BR-XL and worked fine. If the battery was plugged in before all the other connections made and app opened, it didn't see it.

also a br-xl that has been wired wrong (or thinks it has) will not respond to anything for a few minutes. Some kind of protective shut-down I assume.

With the red wire removed you'll need to power up the esc with your battery, with the red wire in there is no need for the battery to be plugged in. I have made the mistake before of being upside down on the castle link 3 terminal to the esc plug and it wouldn't recognize the esc.

Okay, got it figured out. Once I removed the the BEC wires completely from the ESC, and then reconnected the red wire on the ESC, it was recognized by the Link. Made some adjustments and it's good to go. Thanks all who chimed in, I appreciate it. I had some guesses, but needed some experienced feedback to narrow it down. |
