A lot depends on the servo. Is it: High torque? Brushless? Digital or analog? Why not look up some servo's you're looking at and decide for yourself?? If it's over ~300inoz, you WILL need an external BEC. No, I won't do the metric/US conversion. |

Just buy a Castle Creations BEC regardless of what servo you are using.

As stated the standard $20-$25 Castle 10amp BEC is pretty much the standard that is used....because it flat out works. This unit will handle any servo that you throw at it.....and it's voltage is nicely adjustable via the separate CastleLink product that can also program your Castle ESCs. ($20 additional...BUT SO WORTH IT!!). Do not rely on a HobbyKing BEC. (or similar). I can speak from experience...they are not worth the cost savings due to more common unit failures. I just went out yesterday and purchased a Castle BEC from my LHS to replace a failed HobbyKing BEC in my Losi Mini. Keep it simple....put a Castle 10amp BEC in all of your crawlers and save yourself a headache.

HobbyKing R/C Hobby Store : TURNIGY 5-7.5A (8~42v) HV UBEC for Lipoly I have yet to try it but it appears to be reasonably well made, Does need 3s Lipo or above. not as adjustable as CC-BEC but a fair bit cheaper. Pete.

CC BEC for sure. It may cost a little more but it flat out fits the bill.

With a bit of further research, I have just ordered a CC bec from Tower Hobbies and including shipping (7-14 days) to the UK it came to US$28-70 which is about 22 euro or £19 so not to expensive. I already have a castle link and don't need the item fast. If I did need it quickly the shipping on it's own went up to approx US$57. Pete. |

Thanks Pete, i was looking at the hobbyking, its sold in the uk by Giantcod rc for 10quid. Why have you changed to the castle one. My prob is buying the castle link as well. I need the Bec for a Losi comp crawler, with a 15kg steering servo. What are you running yours in ? simon |

I bought my CC BEC from one of the vendors on here (think it was HH), the do the programming for you for an extra $2 IIRC, plus I e-mailed them for a better s&h rate than the standard online quote. Smiles all around! |
