| Anyone running sensorless brushless?
I got an XR10 for xmas and I'm excited to start the kit. I plan to reuse some stuff I already have though and wanted to get some feedback. This applies to MOA so I figured I'd put it in electronics rather than XR10 space. I currently have the following: 2 x Sidewinder SCT ESC (one in a Stampede 4x4 and one in a MERV) 1 x Axial AX-2 (in AX10 RTC) 1 x Axial 55t (in AX10 RTC) On the way is a Speed Passion Cralwer Master crawler motor 1000kv which happens to be sensored but I was planning on running without sensor. So, the question is:
I have a FS-GT3B which I'm going to hack to do dual ESC mixing so I definitely want two ESC's. I'm just stuck at which I'll be happier with. I don't plan to compete with the rig, mostly will use it for driving with my son when we go to the park and climb on the rocks. I do want it capable so if we do go and meet up with local crawler guys I don't want to be laughed at for putting together a bad setup. If my son really takes to it we may go and try and compete a little so I'd like to be capable of that in whichever class the XR10 falls into. |

i would definitely not run 2 sensorless motors in an xr10 or any moa crawler. just running 2 brushed motors will be cheaper and be much smoother for low speed control. if set on using the sidewinder sct, i would get another one of them and set both to brushed mode and for 3s lipo go try a pair of 45t motors and if only 2s lipo try 35t motors

The XR-10 would fall under the "2.2 comp rig" rules. It would have: single or dual motors and/or ESC's. Max of 2.2" diameter rims NO rear steer Max of 12.5" wheelbase There are other rules, but those are the basics. |

Get two 35t-45t motors and run them with the Sidewinders. I'm currently running brood 40t's and micro pros on 3S. I've been real happy with this combo |

I run a sensorless brushless setup, in my short course truck. You will be very disappointed with it in a moa crawler. Invest in some nice brushed motors and a decent esc. BRXL FXR are both nice. Brood and Holmes both make some of the best brushed crawler motors. I run Brood in my 2.2 comp truck and I am very happy with them. |

Are the sidewinders missing something that the Tekin's have? I know the Tekin is super small and light. I'd be ok with using what I have to start out. Thanks for the advice on not using the brushless sensorless motor. I already have one in my Stampede 4x4 (the 3800kv Castle motor) and I don't like how it doesn't go slow. I was hoping the lower KV motor was better suited to crawling. For now I'll stick with the SCT's and pick up some high turn brushed motors. |
