Default recovering a "dead" lipo

Hello, Got a lipo from a friend to try to recover for him since he let it discharge below 3v or so we thought, I hooked up my multi meter to check the voltage. Its a 2 cell 5000mAh battery that reads 3.78 volts total cells are 3.76v and .02v now i have no problem charging a battery thats a lil below 3v per cell but .02v that seems to me like it has a bad cell. should i even try to charge that cell up then toss it on a balancer or what? should i just charge the one cell via the balencer plug at like .1A or something till its at 3v or just give up on it and blow it up on purpose before it blows up on accident

thanks for the help
Alex

Sometimes you can charge them as a nimh to get them up to voltage and then switch the charger over to lipo. Just watch the voltage and be careful! Do it in a place in case something bad happens you can get the battery out of the area.

Charge as a nimh at 1A for a minute or two only, then balance charge as normal on lipo setting

You've been given 2 great replies.

Yes, you can try to charge as a NiCD or NiMH to meet minimum LiPO voltage.

My guess is, one cell is dead. But, other than fireworks, there is nothing to lose.

Really, make sure there is nothing burnable nearby when trying this......really.
