Default anyone running a sidewinder micro in a 2.2 shafty?

i've read a lot of people using the micros in 2.2 moa rigs and mini's but having found threads of people running it in a 2.2 shafty. i might be getting one in trade and i'm hoping to use it in my venom creeper sportsman running a 45t with 3s. what are peoples thoughts? will this esc hold up?

I have been running a micro pro this season on 3s/35t in my moonbuggy ax10 w no issues so I think you will be fine. Just watch temps at first. Mine rarely gets warm except in summer but its damn hot here.

have one in a MRC....not sure if it would hold up to 3S and a 45T.

Default what's the difference between a sidewinder micro and a mambo micro pro?

it seems like the sidewinder micro and mambo micro pro have the same specs minus size. what's the difference between them? as noted in the start of this thread i'm wanting to know if the sidewinder micro could handle a 2.2 rig running 3s and a 45t motor.

I think the only differences are the added heat sink, and a bit more amps handled by the pro. I believe castle listes the different amp ratings on their site.

Actually, they don't list the specs but do say Pro can handle more amps with improved fets. Both are rated for 3s

I run two sidewinder micros in my xr10. They are awesome.
I run a 3s 3500 mah lipo
2 45 turn integys
And 1 7volt bec.
I have ran this rig for at least 45 min with out stopping. There was no heat at all and no problems at all. I run this sol the time too and hard.
So you are good just make sure you have the bec powering them.

that is the problem i've been having. outside of size and weight the specs for both are identical on castle's website. as of not i'm leaning away from going with the sidewinder micro because it seems like nobody is using that in a shafty. several are using it in a dual esc setup on moa rigs, but i would expect that to be less stressful on the esc.

Unless your are using dig, I think you would be fine, but if your worried, just go with micro pro. I have yet to have an issue with mine, and it has had some pretty good amp spikes in binds with no trouble.

Putting two in my 2.2 bully.

Why Do I need to run a bec to the esc?

Not to the ESC, to the servo. Because the BEC(s) on the ESC(s) will not have enough power to run your servo and will cause issues. i always let the power from the ESC power the receiver and use the BEC to power servo(s)

OP:

I have run a Mamba 25 which is the same thing as a Sidewinder Micro in a Sporty with no issues, and use them in my Berg with 35 turns, just keep and eye on temps. If you over gear it you might have issues.

I've got Sidewinder Micros in both my Scorpion comp rig, and my SCX conversion, both running the same 3S/1300mAh, with a Brood Apocalypse 35 turn in the crawler (2.2 w/t), and a Holmes 35 turn Torquemaster Pro in the SCX (1.9 t/w). I run a BEC at 7.4 volts in the comp rig with a HV servo, the SCX still has the AS-2 with a 6.0 volt BEC. Both are geared rather low at the stock Scorpions' 14/87 s/p. Both run fine. The one in the comp rig has gotten warm enough to wad the sticker up, but never quit running nor has it ever smelled like it was burning up.

I think you'll be alright with a Micro and a 45 turn, though I do recommend watching your temps and if need be, gearing conservatively.

Heck! I am running 2 mamba 25 on a couple supers with clod axles, with brushless revolvers on them over 4 years now, I doubt you would have any problems on you shafty, the difference if I recall correctly is that the smaller older mamba 25 were rated at 25amps and the micro is rated at 30amps, or somewhere along those lines.

Shafty= 1 ESC and 1 motor, MOA= 2 ESCs and 2 motors. No matter what, your running 1 motor on 1 ESC. Just my opinion.

The Micro Pro has the best bottom end throttle control I've ever felt.

I run one in my axial sporty with no problems. I have never had any overheating issues and I run a 30t custom Holmes motor

True. But, in a bind, you put more load and stress on the 1 motor/esc combo pushing a transmission that pushes BOTH axles. In a MOA there is one esc controlling one motor pushing only one axle. Your going to get higher amp draws and temps out of the shafty. Correct me if I'm wrong all
