| ESC white wire, and wiring help.
Is this for a brushless or something? I know my ESC does both but my brushed motor has a black and red only so the whites just there. I'm about to solder my ESC to BEC later today after I get the deans plug to allow me to plug into my battery. Also on the receiver I have 3 spots but only plugs I see are on the ESC and BEC? Where's the 3rd plug in my receiver for? From what I know my reciever and controller are stock Wraith rtr stuff, I know the PO said the controller was. After I wire up should they work or need programmed?

On Castle esc's the white wire is for brushless motors. Perhaps you could post a pic?

read the manual..... if its the new sv2 esc the white and black wire is what goes to your brushed motor. you will have to set it up to run brushed as it comes programmed for brushless from factory. brushless motor you would use all 3 wires. |

and you'll need to program the bec for 7v for powering servo. take the red/black wires from servo plug and connect them to bec, running power straight from bec to servo. all that needs to be in rx/servo plug is yellow wire(control). use a piece of a paper clip to connect the 2 wires together. heatshrink them and you'll be good to go. |

the 3 slots would be your servo, esc, and bec if you choose to wire it this way or the way ROLANDROCKSHOP described only the esc and servo would plug into the reciever. only set the bec to 7v if your servo is rated to that otherwise set it to only 6v

For a while last year, there WAS a firmware bug that meant you needed the white & black ESC wires for a brushed motor on a brushed/brushless ESC, CC later fixed that so you would now use the red & black wires (which is more normal). I would suggest just coiling up the white ESC wire and making sure the cut end is covered in tape. | |

I got a nice soldering gun and need the Deans plug for my battery to hook too and the rest is wiring. How do I set it to 7v? These are the parts you recommended Josh. The CC 10a BEC and SV2 ESC.

you will need a castle link to set your bec and your esc. the sidewinder comes from the factory setup for brushless, you need to plug it into a castle link and change it to brushed. then you will need to plug your bec into the castle link and set the voltage to whatever you want. the castle links are around $25 at gs hobby. i have one if you wanna borrow it! |

These little dudes are time consuming thats for sure lol. Why did the owner not recommend a Castle Link? I'm 35-40 mikes away and work till 5pm. I can't get up there till Saturday and thats if I'm free.

honestly, they don't know. they are nice, and helpful but don't know alot about crawlers. plus he may not know what you aready have. the castle link comes in handy if you like messing with settings. i know on my mmp i've messed with all kinds of stuff. some good some bad! usually for setting it up you may need the link 2 or 3 times. depending on how you like your drag brake, throttle curves and such. if you closer to poteau, i have one and you can borrow it or bring your rig over and i'll help ya set it up.

you can program the esc manually thru radio, the bec will have to have the castle link to program it. id buy one to have from now on,they make life sooo much easier when you wanna try new settings out. |

I hate soldering! The deans plugs come with little shrink wraps that unless you can solder perfect they won't fit over where they need to be. The ESC and BEC wires together and it barely fits around those. I like to learn by just trying things.

| Are you using a HV (high voltage) servo? 'Cause I can tell you from experience 7 volts is too much for a stock AS-2. Mine's been over 210° before and regularly runs over 140°. Might want to start at 6 volts, and see how that works for ya. Or not, whichever. |

| Re: ESC white wire, and wiring help. I just soldered the wires to a plug. I'll pay someone to set it all up. I don't want to fry all my parts. This electric stuff isn't for me. I may sell all this stuff and buy the rtr. I just don't have the know how to do this. Program it to 6, naw 7, clip these wires and bypass that to this, and don't touch this to that, oh, and the little so and so shape thing plugs over there!

heres a few pics of setting a cc bec with the castle link.. using supplied cd that comes with cc castle link, install program.. plug in usb adptr.. open program.. connect plug with usb adptr..should get a light like this... make shure you have the plug + - going to right pins.. - will be black/brown, + will be red.. green light on bec says all is ok and ready.. once you connect screen should go to this.. click on "basic".. thats where you program voltage output.. once you've selected your voltage, click on "update".. your done! unplug from usb adapter.. |
