Thanks guys!
A little spritz of contact cleaner and she's good as new!

I was playing with the steering wheel, and I pulled the stops off to clean under there.
OH MAN, those servos can move a lot. It was sweeping 180*, so the movement is limmited by the xmitter. Weird

Thanks also for the links, Thom

Default ESC question Added #####

ALRIGHT,
I'm using the old school radio gear listed on page one.
I've got my new TLT sitting right next to me, and a new 6 cell pack.
I've also got 2 (two) FOOKING ECSs that won't work.
Their Duratrax Auto Sport Intellispeeds. The motor is the stocker off my old grasshopper, I also got the adapter wire for the radio.

When everything is pluged in, I turn on the ESC, the green LED is supose to light up, I get a slight LED flash, then no motor power. The Radio servo power does work though.

Is there a compatibility issue with my radio?
BTW, I'm a mechanical engineer, so YES it's wired correctly

Help me understand why I can't get this to work, [tugging at heart strings] My Son is not very happy caus we cant play

Since you're a mechanical engineer and all, so I HAVE to ask ( )...Did you program the ESC?

Step 5 in the instructions...

Yup I never got that far, power up, then nothing but servo and Rx power, no LEDs.

I paid a RC flyer coworker a visit tonight. He had a spair 6ch kit to try. No problems, it worked like a champ.

Then after some more playing around, we got it to work with the old radio.
YEUPEE were in business :P

The wierd part is....all we changed was the Tx throttle reverse switch on the old radio. Everything else is the same.

I guess it's no big deal, the only problem is the "ABS" kicks in on forward. There's a slight delay if you floor it from a stop.

Thanks for trying to help I just mentioned my profession just so you guys realise I'm not TOTALY Inept

Whelp, the battery is charged, I'm going back outside
Good Night

Hey man, it's the brainiacs that overlook the easy stuff.

The delay is 'cause the truck is going forward in reverse (hey..that's a Pink Floyd lyric!).

There's a delay before reverse kicks in...

If your ESC to motor wires are correct, try putting channel 2 back to its original position and re-programming...or flip the motor wires (assuming you're at 0 degrees timing) so you have instant forward throttle and the delay on reverse like you should.

Jason, thanks MANG

I've tried that. No good. If the Tx reverse switch is "forward" it doesn't work. The LED never lights up after power is applied to the ESC. If it's "reversed" it work just fine.

I did ReReRe-read the instructions. After green neutral, apply full forward until red led lights. Then go full reverse until red led lights again. It will do the forward, but reverse I don't light up the Red LED.

The throttle trigger isn't centered (and I've played with the adjustments). There's more forward throw than reverse. Could this be causing the problem?

Maybe...I don't remember much about those old radios. :(

More travel is the 2:1 thing. You should be able to select from 2:1 or 1:1 on trigger travel. This is done inside the radio on the trigger switch housing.

If you're at 2:1 and it's flaky, try reprogramming on the 1:1 setting with the reversing switch to normal.

I wish I had it in front of me, it'd be simpler to TS that way. :(

This imagining crap is giving me brain cramps.

If you can't get it hammered out just PM me your mailing address and I'll send you (your son ) a TQ3 with RX and crystals.
