If it was me I would go brushed but if you insist on going brushless I would advise against Novak.

I cant be sure about the Timbuk2 but most of their crawler ESC's (the goat systems) require the use of THEIR motors to enable the crawling features such as drag brake.

That is BS in my book, every other manufacturers ESC's work with any motor...Why limit yourself like that? They say it is because the other motors lack "overheating protection" or something, who cares so disable that feature not some of the main features of the ESC!

If it way my money I would go with a Castle or Tekin ESC so either the MMP or Tekin RS. Pair that with the motor of your choice, something like the new Pro-4 from Tekin would be a killer combo for scale fun.

Cant comment on the correct turn or KV as I havent looked into it much and dont have a brushless scaler. I would browse around in the SCX-10 section and see what people are using in builds. I would guess that something in the 18.5 range would probably be about right but I could be wrong.

+1, that should be a decent set-up for your rig. The FX-R has a lot of options, so it's easy for you to change motors later if you want.
