Default New SAVOX servo now no steering at all!!!!!What do i do now??????

last weekend i switched to a new set of sedonas and added weight to the wheels. The weigh about 6.5 oz. on each front wheel now. Lost a lot of steering. so I switched to a SAVOX SC1268-SG servo. it has 347 oz./in. torque. i did try using the stock ax10 servo horn and even tried using a couple of the ones that came with the new servo. This thing won't turn around in a 40 acre field now. Im still using the stock esc and reciever and transmitter. What am I doing wrong?????

Im also getting a buzz sound from the servo now. Is that from the high voltage or what?

yeah, are you using a external BEC?? 347 oz is only at 7.4 volts....you can get that by installing a BEC

yes, buzzing from a savox is normal...if you searched, you wounld know that.

Ive searched and read now for about 2 hours and couldn't find anything that was simplified and to the point. So thats why i started this thread. No i don't have a externall bec. Im still running the stock AE-2 ESC. My battery set up is 3S lipo 35C 1300mah 11.1V. single motor of couarse on a AX10.

Not sure...but I think the stock ESC's bec is like 3A...so way more than half of the 347oz of torque...put a BEC on it, and set it for 7.4 volts...then you will see the monster that servo is...

side note, the stock esc does not have a lipo cut off....if you want to keep that esc, you will need a external lipo cut off as well.

thread on buzzing....side note, I didn't know it was normal either.

the stock AE-2 ESC is not rated for 3s lipo's people are getting away with it buy running an external BEC, you are not running an external BEC and are running 3s on the AE-2, step one.. get an external BEC.

digital servo's have a high refresh rate so you will hear them constantly adjusting for center (it will buzz)

The 3S explains a lot. First thing is as you increase the voltage to the ESC's BEC the amperage goes down. So if it was 3A at 7.4V it will be about 2A at 11.1V.

Second is that Savox servos need lots of power, the are very power hungry and can draw enough current to starve the receiver causing a loss of signal or a brownout.

Yes get the external BEC, Castle's is good and you can adjust the voltage output with the optional Castlelink ($25) and a computer.

Then you can learn how to power the servo directly off the BEC without going through the receiver.

Not to high jack but.....will the internal BEC on the HH BR-XL be good enough for the same servo mentioned, SAVOX SC1268-SG ? Running 6 cell NiHm.

My a$$ is likely older & dumber........

Most BEC's have a wattage limit, thus when you up the voltage (like going to 3S LiPO) you lower the amperage.

What is being stated is, when you up the battery pack voltage, you may lower the BEC amperage, thus under-driving high power servos.

For most ESC BEC's, when you get much above 200inoz (torque for the servo) you are likely in the realm of needing an external BEC.
The BR-XL can go a bit further.

each code is different, that way you can't get a crap load of controlers....the codes expire.

reddevil....Charlie hit it on the head. BRXL will work...just good habit to have a external BEC

Just ordered the ccbec from TCS Crawlers for $15.99. They had it on sale for $9 off I didn't get the link yet. Funds are tight. I will be to still program it thru the transmitter won't I?

Sorry for the miss information on this, I meant to type TCS Crawler the first time but posted that RC4WD has them on sale for 9 dollars off right now. It is actually TCS CRAWLERS. SORRY FOR THE MIS-INFORMATION.

No, you need the link in order to program it. They come set for 5.1v although I dont know why they dont bump it up to 6v stock so you dont have to buy the link.

+1. You can do some ESC programming with the radio, but not the BEC's.

Our advantage is that we have multiple CC BEC's as well as CC ESC's, thus a CClink is a minor cost.

From the way you worded this it sounds like you work for them. If so great. Now if you do work for them and know this product well, with adding it to my mix, will it work properly untill I do get the link kit?
