| Brand new motor won't work, any idea why?
So I got a brand new integy 35T motor to test if I prefer a 35T or a 45T before I shell out the cash for a HH hand wound. I wired it up last night exactly how my current, working 45T Tekin motor is, but when I hook the battery up and give it throttle, it does nothing. It doesn't make any sounds or anything either. The lights on my esc indicate that the esc is receiving my throttle signal and the steering works fine, just no go. I did notice that when I hook up the Integy motor and then plug in my battery that the esc does not make it's normal startup beeps, but when I re-plug in my 45T Tekin motor and then plug the battery in, it does make the normal start up beeps. I double checked to make sure all of the connections are correct (+ to + and - to -) and it all checks out. Any clue as to why the new motor won't work?

You don't hear the beeps because the ESC makes those sounds through the motor. Check that the brush is touching the comm, check the brush wires are connected properly to the endbell. Those are the only simple things I can think of that would keep the motor from working. |

+1 on what squatch & Griz stated. The polarity (red vs. black) connections won't make a difference other than which way the rig goes when you hit the throttle. Make sure: ESC to motor connections are solid Connections from brush hood to brushes are good Make sure both brushes are touching the comm Can you spin the new motor by hand? Maybe something is jammed inside?? |

I agree with those guys... The only other thing is to make sure that you didnt wire both wires to the same side of the motor. |

May be a moot point since: 1-The OP didn't mention letting out the magic smoke. 2-He tried another motor and it worked. But yes, make sure you don't have both ESC wires to the same brush hood of the motor. That is a direct short! | |

Thanks for your help guys. So I looked at the motor really closely to check what you told me and saw that one of the spring looking pieces that goes over a pole (sorry, not familiar with the actual part names) is missing. So I will call the vendor today and get the motor replaced or at least get them to send me a new spring. Any idea what that part is? Knowing that would help when talking to the vendor.

Yep, without that spring, the brush wont contact the comm and the motor wont work. |

Yep, a missing brush spring will certainly cause your problem since nothing is pushing the brush against the comm. That's how electricity travels through the motor. Glad you found it. |

Thanks guys, the vendor is going to send me a replacement motor. So now I will have two motors. Anyone want a brand new motor that is just missing a brush spring? I figure that would be an easy part to replace if you already have one sitting around.

Just order you some brush springs (they are cheap) and keep that motor as a spare. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXJZK3&P=7 |
