You can but you will need to tap in before the resistor to the existing LED and put a resistor in line with the new LED to bring the voltage down as not to burn out the bulb. I believe that all the resistors (circuit board) are in the shrink wrap so you would need to tap into the power between that board and the receiver, you are making parallel connections so you won't mess up the existing ones.

Xtreme RC Dec 11 had a very good write up on how to make a low budget LED system which you can adapt to the Axial simple.

You will definitely overload the circuit and none of the LEDs will light up if you tap in along the string after the resistor as AreCee said. I am no expert on LEDs but I've had several pop in my face to learn the hard way lol. I rigged up several frankenstein setups usually running off a 12V camera battery and I buy all my stuff from RadioShack. You can check out rclighthouse.com to see some configurations.

Here's a nice little LED calcuator and guide.

How would someone wire the brake lights to be functional?

should check out the eflight led's they have 4 leads coming off the board and then you can add y-harrness and extentions to get the job done.

This might be an option for you:
Brake, Reverse and Driving Light controller $30

So if you are nuetral on the throttle the headlights are off? I am interested in these but would like to keep the headlights on when stopped. Is this possible?

Yes, you have it right. I hear this all the time so what I have done is add an extra pair of pins on the output that carry power all the time. You can plug your headlights into there so that they stay on. Then, if you want to add a set of driving lights that come on when going forward, you can still do that.

I just figured that if there were headlights, that they would get plugged into a Y cable or into the Bat connector of the receiver. No problem adding that place to plug in though!

I just wired two more LEDs into the ciruit so I have 4 headlights instead of two. I've ran it this way for many hours and haven't had any problems. IIRC the simple LED controller is no different between the Dingo (4 lights) and the Honcho (2 lights) other than the light string that is plugged in.
