Default Best servo for $100?

Being a believer in "you get what you pay for", what is the best crawling servo for an AX-10 for no more than $100?

Thanks I'm still running the stock one.

You can usually get a used Hitec 7955TG for under $100 shipped...that's 333oz/in @ 6.0V. Or a new Hobbico CS170 servo same specs $90 new not including shipping.

The hitec 7954 is the best servo for 140 dollars!

And it only costs 80 dollars.

High voltage and over 400 oz on just 6v.

There is no other choice n my book.

CS170.... TowerHobbies.com | HCAM0316 Hobbico CS-170 Std Digital Ultra Torq 2BB TG Servo U

7955.... TowerHobbies.com | 37955S Hitec HS-7955TG Digital HT Titanium Gear Coreless Servo

7954.... TowerHobbies.com | 37954S Hitec HS-7954SH High Voltage Ultra Torque Dual BB Servo

7950.... TowerHobbies.com | 37950S Hitec HS-7950TH HV Digital Ultra Torque Coreless TG

S9157.... TowerHobbies.com | S9157 Futaba S9157 Digital High-Torque Servo

I use a 7950 @ 7.4 volts in my 2.2 Bully MOA. There is a shop local to me (that is also on Ebay) that I can get one picked up for ~$120 out the door.

I don't think running any of these long term @ 9vdc would be good.

A question: Is there an advantage to running a High Voltage servo, as opposed to a regular voltage servo? Is anything additional required to run a high voltage servo?

My rig has the stock AX-10 electronics, a CC BEC, and 7.4v / 2s LiPo battery.

Thanks!

the 7954SH will serve well at 9V. you wont stress it that's for sure. as long as you're not running courses back to back to back it gets warm but not hot enough to the touch. i have one in my sportsman and my Xr, both running XR steering over 55*.

servo power and speed will be exponential with more voltage. I had a 7955 TG die from 9V but the high voltage series have loved it.

even throwing nominal battery voltage on 2S to a servo will make you tingle in the naughty bits. at 9v, its really beefcake.

7954 is a good choice 403oz at 7.4v. No idea what benefit you would get from over volting it unless you like buying new servos. The 7950th is a good choice too. 486oz at 7.4v for $114.

Some people run the servo power direct from the battery, thus they avoid the weak ESC BEC and don't have to buy an external BEC.
The biggest downside to this is that servo power drops off as the battery voltage drops.
