Default worth bringing old batteries back to life..

old friend is getting back into rc.. his batteries are about8 to 12 years old. been in storage a long time..years and years.. i told him to sell of what he has and by some new lipos from hobbypartz.com. he has a scx 10, vxl stamped and a tamiya cc 01 in the mail..

so is it worth it? i didnt think there would be a way to bring them back after all this time thanks

he'd be best off just starting in with fresh lipos. I dont think the battries would hold a charge.

I would cycle them and see what numbers come up.

Likely they are bad, but who knows.

I would cycle them ASSUMING they will burst into flames, so do it somewhere you don't really worrk about a fire.

Only charge @ 1C.

I've actually had better results bringing batteries (circa late 80's- early 90's) back from the dead than I've had with a number of newer ones. That said, it's a lot of work and offers limited rewards. +1 on the 'go new' votes.
