That takes me back about 15 years. "Kyosho named these motors based on the run time in seconds. This motor will have 240 seconds of run time. This was before the motors were named by their number of turns." |

The 240ST is an old motor. The 240 represents the run time (in seconds) for which the motor was designed (for a 1200mAh battery, which was hot at the time ). It's a 22 turn. |

Think I can get anything out of it? I'm kind of in need of an Integy 55t.

I like searching. Reminds me of the Optima, and Ultima. "The 240SB had 19 turns of .65mm wire with aluminium end bell 28K -6 cells bare shaft The 240S had 19 turns of .9mm wire-30K As far as I can make out the 360ST is sold as the magnetic mayhem. Hope this is of use. There would be similar winds among the buggy motors of today I would guess. In the case of the 240 motors look for 4 minute buggy race motors. Thats what the 240 refers to (240secs)= 4 mins." |

Is it in good shape? How does the com look? I used to have one of those motors in my RC10 and it would fly. Since the motor is so old I would say that 15.00 tops and thats for someone trying to rebuild an old car.

Sorry for digging this old thread up, but I have had these motors a while. Used them a little for SC racing and just boxed it all up together when the local scene faded away. Sc truck has gone brushless and these motors sit, curious if any could be rebuilt quickly and used in something like a deadbolt with 9/56 gears on 2s. The Le Mans 360st had my eye for the deadbolt, but read in another thread that the search threw up that the magnets might need replacing. Was hoping to just re time, sand com, rewind and add brushes. Anyone have one of these rebuilt or stock running 2s in a scx or comparable rig? Sorry for the pic not being all that, stuff is in storage now and hoping to have them all shipped to me by a friend. Any input is appreciated. |

Sanding a comm is deep derp. Does it work to clean off surfaces, sure. Does it make it round again, no chance. And rewind? You're digging up a whole nother subject there. |

I have seen through searches that taking a small strip of fine grit and just spinning the com in it a little to "knock the dust off" helps. Was just curious if anyone else had attempted to rebuild on of these for an scx. Guess not, fair enough, I'll just go all derpy on the motor and see what happens. My bad for being off subject with re winding, have a good day.

Alright. Thanks. And realize the thread was from 2006, maybe for a reason? Maybe. Have fun though. |

Sandpaper is a bad idea, a pencil erasure works without making the comm as out of round. Rewinding an armature is a pretty big pain. Not out of the question if you have time and gusto , but a replacement machine wound arm or handwound arm will likely give you something better than you can make yourself. Back in the day folks would rewind motors until companies started making more suitable choices. Or maybe that was just me and that's why I turned into a motor manufacturer Between 27 turns and 40 turns is a good general choice for the scx10. 35t and 27t battle for most popular wind. Don't mind eeepee, he's here to be grumpy in tech sections. |

Thanks John, I was just looking at rebuilding them as a little bit of fun. Not trying to crack the code and build a motor that is superior to others, but maybe have something to put in and play with while getting similar performance to an axial 27t or something. Probably gonna shoot for 27-30T, trying to research what gauge wire to use. Might have to send them in to have them zapped, no idea yet. So no sand paper, thank you Eee Pee and John. Pencil eraser it is, also have some cotton polishing pads for the dremel(would those be safe?). |

Just something to remove the deposits, not something that reshapes the commutator.
