Default Tapping into 3s balance plug for servo power

I'm getting a high voltage servo that will run off 2S LiPo but was wondering when I switch to 3S LiPo if anyone has made a plug to plug into the balancing plug to tap the 2S from there so they don't need a BEC?

Shouldn't you technically be able to tap from the ground and 2s wire (since the last two cells are in series)?

I know that will unevenly discharge the pack, but how unevenly should that happen? I know the LVC in the ESC will kill it when the entire voltage gets too low, so technically we'd see it turn off when cell 1 was higher than cutoff and 2 and 3 were a bit lower (but I run 3.4v auto) so that should technically not let the cells get below 3.0 even with this setup.

So, what do you guys say? The balance plugs are cheap and may be worth trying.

technically you should be able to. i dont know hat balance taps you have, but all mine are align style and to get the 2s reading you would hook to the grnd and the middle + wire

I don't see a problem, just make sure to balance charge EVERY time.

Thanks guys. Just wanted to check to see that things would work as I expect. I've got Gens Ace batteries that use the JST/XH balance plug so I figured I'd just use one of the 3S extension cables and cut the end off to use it for the servo.

I always balance charge anyway so it shouldn't be an issue. It takes a little longer, but most of the time my son wants to run his truck and we just run the batteries from storage voltage down to LVC. When we go to the park we do a full charge so I think this will work very well.
