Question need help with an older stock crawler

Hello people,
Im having trouble with my crawler. I have an older Nylint Scorpion crawler. There actually used to be a section on here for them when I used to come on here. Haven't been on here in like 3 years and couldn't remember my previous sign on info. But anyways I turn it on and try to go forward or back wards and it will move either direction but when it does it wont run continuously like will jolt or twitch or stop every half second or so very consistently . Im not very good with these things yet. Any ideas of where to start or how to test

Are the radio batteries good?
Is there a calibration for the ESC?
Did you check the brushes on the motor to make sure they move freely?

I will certainly check all that in the morning. Thanks for some direction. I do not believe I even have access to the esc with out completely dismantling the chassis. Like I said its an old cheap crawler. Probably no adjustment. I also think it has a motor on each axle. But I will rip it apart tomorrow. What is the esc? Im a newb

that would be your electronic speed control, it's possible you want be able to find it since a lot of that level of rc stuff is all built onto a single circuit board.
