| Waterproof fail?
Ok so here is the problem right now. I drove my rig under the water a few times that is and no problem at all except for the radio reception loss with the 2.4 ghz system. Today on the other hand was a different story. The truck had gone under a few times no problems at all. Then it came. I decided that it was time to head in from the pond crawl so i went to a clean section of the water to rinse it all off but i think that is where i screwed up. I throttled forward and backwards to rinse everything. Then i just lost power to the motor all of the sudden. The servo still worked just fine. I got a little wet getting it fished out. I turned it off and back on and it was silent no sound from the motor when i turned on the esc. This is what i'm running a sidewinder sv2 and a stock axial scx10 motor. The rx and the esc are fully sealed up and waterproofed. I'm assuming its the motor because the servo recieves power when i flip the switch on the esc but there is no sound made and the manual does say the sound comes from the motor vibrating. I would rather not unseal everything to see if it lights up but i assume it has to be working since there is power to the servo. Any ideas would be greatly helpfull. |

I have completely worn down a fairly new set of brushes running in nasty dirty water after only a few packs. I'm betting if you pull the motor you'll find something similar...or if you're lucky you've just got a hung brush. |

| Re: Waterproof fail? Thats what i was thinking i will start pulling it first then go from there. I dont really like how the can on the axial motor are open with the the cooling fins. I'm sure that wont help too much.

Push it back and forth on the ground to make sure the drivetrain is free. I had some tiny sand get in the spur/pinion and lock the whole thing up. Worked fine after I rolled it back and forth on the ground. Very good chance you ran out of brushes. On more than one day and more than one truck, I've seen a motor go through a full set of brushes in one day while running in water. |
