Default BEC Help.....

OK, I hooked up my Castle BEC on my Wraith like it showed in the diagram, and removed the red wire from the ESC to RX. Now when I plug in the battery I have power to the lights and servo with the switch on the ESC off. And nothing to the motor until I cut the switch on. Is this normal?
I'm running a Spektrum RX and have the BED in the AUX channel. I'm guessing it is, because the BEC is soldered to the battery and then plugged into the RX so you have power directly to it.
Thanks Joe

Yes, that is normal. The ESC gets its own power and is separate from anything that is powered from the BEC. That is why the red wire is removed, just to make sure they are separate.

Yep, totally normal. You are bypassing any BEC power from the ESC's by removing the red wire. The Castle BEC powers up as soon as you plug in the battery and, in turn, powers the RX and the steering servo (so I always turn on my radio before plugging in the battery). Sounds like you have it set up correctly.

Thanks Guys. That's what I was thinking too, just wanted to be sure before I saw that "Magic Smoke". Now I think I will just cut the switch off

I put a switch in my CC BEC power wire so I can switch it on and off without having to unplug the battery.
