Default Sensored motor + Sensorless ESC?

Hey guys and gals, this might sound strange but is it possible to run a sensored brushless motor on a sensorless ESC? The reason I ask is because I want to take the sensored ESC off my short course truck to use on my crawler. I have another sensorless ESC that might work, I just don't know if using the sensorless ESC will damage the expensive sensored motor.

Thoughts?

...or I shouldn't because it will damage everything?

shouldn't be a problem at all. the only experience i have is with the mmp and a sensored novak 18.5t. i've ran it without the sensor wire hooked up and it did just fine.

+1, you will just have to deal with the low speed cogging typical of sensorless motors.

from my experience with brushless, it will work just like a sensorless motor, but a few of mine have cogged a bit more than a typical sensorless at the low rpm but with other problems

Ok, thanks for the input.

My motor is the 550 Brushless Novak 5.5t and I plan to use the HobbyKing 150A ESC. The ESC has sensored capabilities but it doesn't seem to work. With a regular brushless motor the ESC is fine.

I plan on taking the Novak ESC that came with the 550 and using it on my crawler with a Novak Brushless 21.5t crawler motor.
