Default Scx10 wont move without a push?

I have an scx10 that won't move without a slight push to get the motor turning, after the first push it works fine until you stop again. Then it needs another shove to get movin again. Has Tekin Fxr, tekin pro 35t motor. Any Ideas?

How much use is on the motor, and in what conditions? Sounds like its ready for a rebuild.

Sounds like the comm needs to be cut and new brushes added.

Or just get a cheep 540 for 10 bucks and throw it in. Or if that's not you style get a castle system so he can tear your lawn up then you don't have to mow this coming season.

Sounds more like a dead/dieing wind/coil. When the brushes sit on that coil (actually on the comm segment feeding that coil), it's dead. Once you move the rig a bit you're off that segment and it works. It keeps working since the momentum of the rig spins the motor past the bad spot.
If this is what is happening, you can:
-rewind the motor
-replace the armature
-get a different motor

If you want to try a comm service (cut comm & new brushes) fine, but I don't think it will fix it.

As others have mentioned, either a stuck brush or a shorted arm. Either way, a rebuild should be your first move.

Thanks everybody, I replaced brushes and polished comm it works fine now, next time I'll probably have to have it put on a lathe though.

Well it worked for about 45 minutes, then back to the same, I put in a 55T that I had(its new) It seems like there is little difference in wheelspeed betwwen the new integy 55t and this Pro Tekin 35t, like I said before I bought this truck used and don't know the history of this motor. Is is worth rebuilding or time for a new one. (my sons and I are new to crawling, nitro monster truck converts and loving it)

The comm is pretty beat. Its possible you may not be able to salvage it. Is there a lhs that might still have a comm lathe? If not send it to EddieO.

Well the integy 45t I put in smoked today, also another tekin 35t, the integy 45 probably had 3hrs on it, the tekin was used, not sure how much time on it, we are running 3s lipo, tekin fxrs, 18/87 gears. When we go out we take two sets of batteries each and run the cars for 1 1/2 to 2 hrs. Is this too much on 3 s?, my other sons stock dingo on nimh just keeps running and running, or should I bite the bullet and get Brood or Holmes would these hold up better?

I guess my first questions is.....are the motors getting rather hot? Heat is about the biggest motor killer. This can be due to:
-Overgeared (going for too much speed)
-Tight pinion/spur gear mesh
-Drivetrain binding
-Dieing motor bearings

If these are all "OK" then a decent motor should last you a while. Holmes Hobbies and Br00d are the 2 best bets, there are others that can be OK.
