The 4PKS is not waterproof ....

Yes I know ... what a news flash.

At a local comp yesterday and was judging a course. The rain started to come down hard and everyone was just grabbing trucks and running them to cars. I would have bet my 4PKS on the fact that someone said they had grabbed my truck & radio but when the rain finally subsided it was not in my Jeep or any of the cars near me.

I tracked it down at the very top of the hill, on top of a rock, completely soaked.

I yanked the battery and ripped into it. I took every dang piece out other than the screen which is soldered to a board with a short wire. 2 of the boards are actually soldered together with some connectors so blowing them dry was "more interesting" than the rest.

Today I am happy to report it still works without any problems!

Hopefully the carfax won't reflect any water damage if I ever go to sell it.
:lmao:

As long as it was not turned on you are safe to use it after it all dries out.

If you turned it on while soaked then you take a chance of letting some of the magic smoke to get out.

Most companies coat there circuit boards with a clear coat usually a lacquer base to protect it from moisture. Probably what saved yours.

Oh I knew it would be fine once it dried out ... the question was how long would it take to completely dry out.

I should have waited till I got home and put it in a bag with some rice to absorb the moisture .... but I'm stubborn. I had it dry before the end of the day and finished my courses. ;-)
