Default Intermittent Servo Problem

Im having a wierd issue. For an unknown reason my servo doesnt go to full lock turning left. Like 15ish degrees from full lock. Seems to be no ryme or reason to when it happens. Does it under load and sometimes with no load. Never to the right only left. XR with straight steering link, no binding in the steering.

New 7980 Hitec wired directly to bec @ 7.4 volts. 2 new fxr's and futaba rx.

The bec is the only thing that isnt new, in fact its the old style w/o the additional cap. Could that be an issue?

Thanks RCC

I doubt that the BEC is the issue here, sounds like some sort of signal problem to me. Could there be a loose connection to from the servo to the RX?

Does it seem like it is trying to turn farther when this happens?

Since it's a new servo, what does it do if you remove the drag link from the servo horn?

Since it's intermittant, I will have to assume it's not the steering EPA.

Is the servo signal wire tight in it's connection to the RX?

Does a different servo do the same thing?

If it were a signal problem why would it do it in the same spot every time? It almost seems like a dead spot issue with the servo pot. Ill swap servo's and see if it makes a difference.

FWIW Im using this adapter from Chris The Battery Man: Receiver bypass adapter

Also it should be ok to remove the signal wire from the bec right?

Kinda stumped..

I figured out the original problem. I set the epa's so the steering stops just kiss at full travel w/ no load. And one would think that a 600+ oz. in. servo would hold but if there is any load it doesent go to full lock.

Now after the servo gets warm it glitches. Im about convinced that these HV Hitec servo's just suck.. I shoulda went with the Futaba..

Your choice.
I set my steering EPA's just short of mechanical bind. This allows for ANY slop in the servo or linkage. I will gladly give up a degree or so in steering to save a $100+ dollar servo.
When I'm ready to comp at Nationals level, I may change my ideals.
