Default servo- how much is enough?

How much torque should I be looking at? for a scaler, not a comp rig. I was thinking a wing servo that some of the jet guys use small, flat easy to hide, lots of torque. I just dont know how much torque is enough?

Anything less than 400oz is useless

jk. You need 125oz or more to be on the safe side. I run a 240oz in my scaler personally.

I recommend 200+ for a 1.9 scaler.

Most of the servos we use are all the same size externally...They are "standard size". Make sure whatever you get has all metal gears or you will blow it up quickly.

Didn't see what you are running it in. mrc I thought a 645 would be enough but switched to a extra cs170. A lot better. 7955 in my scalers but might up my c3 to 7950. Xr has a 7950

Sent from my new phone using tapatalk.

I run a Hitec 985mg (172oz @6v) in my 1.9 and have not had any need to go higher even in bad spots.
I run a HiTec 5955TG and 7955TG in my 2.2 scalers (330-400+oz roughly).

Enjoy the smaller servo stalling and eventually (sooner than you would thing) burning up.
There's a reason they are called "standard" size, an you are not using it for "standard" purposes according to the manufacturer.
Minis are used for dig at the most of for a scaler's steering wheel to turn with a figure's hand attached. Not steering a 5-8 pound rigs tires in a bind while trying to move forward
985MG will be cheapest and I've had no probs with mine for over 2 years.
If you have the coin, then pony up for at least a CS170.
Savox also makes some nice ones for around 80. I'd spend the extra 20 for a HiTec at least for the warranty and awesome service.
Nothin' like getting a 3 year old 5955's motor replaced for free.
