How much torque do you want? I've been making do with TowerPro MG946R's, which only put out 208oz of torque at 6.2V. I have a comp this weekend and that's not going to cut it, so I just ordered a beef servo on Sunday. I have no previous brand loyalty but have heard nothing but awesomeness about Hitec. So I just bought a Hitec Monster Torque HS-7980TH for $135 + $7 shipping from Servocity (best price around, ordered Sunday, it shipped yesterday, ought to have it by Thursday), 611oz of Torque @ 7.4V. It's about 10% larger than a standard servo, but I doubt you'd ever look back after getting it. The other Hitec servos with high Torque all seem to range in price from $90-$140, and are standard size. If you were to go with Servocity, if you "plug" their site somehow (facebook, twitter etc) and link them to it, they'll give you a discount code of some form or another on your next order. Hitec is also supposed to have amazing warranty, from what I've read it's basically no questions asked replacement/repair. These factors are what caused me to spend nearly $150 for a servo, as I will never have to buy one again for it. Savox servos, from what I've seen (though I'll admit to not looking particularly hard) are overpriced for their rated torque, and have also read in numerous forums that the specs given for them are higher than what they actually perform at. Good luck! |

Radios HS-M7990TH - Hitec RCD Heres a couple I use they seem expensive till you buy a couple junk ones then spend more money on gears to replace the stripped ones next thing you know you have more money in a junk one than it would have cost to buy one of these!!I know this from experience!!I`ve even stripped the gears twice in a 645mg on my mini so I ordered the top one for it now!! |

Another vote for the Hitec 7950 titanium gear at 7.4 volts. Check servo city for best prices.

I've had excellent luck with a JR Z9100T servo, I've been abusing it for over 3 years without a failure.

I've been running Futaba servos and radios for a very long time now. Always had good luck with them and good customer support. It all depends on what you are looking for. I like the S9157, because it has good torque and is decent on price. You can get up there and get one of the new high voltage units that are crazy price and arm breaking torque. My theory has always been get just enough servo, too much breaks parts and not enough, well doesn't turn the wheels when you need it. I also have to say, I have seen very good results with the Savox servos and it is pretty hard to beat the Hitec stuff. |

I like the 9157 also it has been a great servo for me. The one I have was in my 2.2 shafty for almost a year and then in a Berg 2.2 for almost a year, then in an Associated SC-10 for 6-8 months. It is now in my SCX-10 and has been for two years, it is just starting to get a little iffy in perfromance and dependablty. I will replace it with another. |
