Ae-2 esc

Can I run LiPo's with this ESC (AE-2) in my rtr honcho? I would like to get a second battery and heard I can get more run time and consistant power from a LiPo battery.
Thanks.

yes it just needs the lipo cutoff turned on (use manual). its rated for 2s (7.4v) lipos

Thanks.

Runtime is based on the mah rating of the pack.....more mah....more runtime.
Yes, LiPO has a flatter discharge curve compared to NiCD or NiMH packs.

I have the AE-2 and will be running an Onyx 2S 25C 5000mah lipo! The AE-2 comes pre-set with auto lipo on!

Re: Ae-2 esc

So I would be able to switch between a LiPo and a NiMH pack with out setting up my ESC each time?

You should set the LiPO LVC when running the LiPO's."thumbsup"

Other than that, volts are volts.

They come set to auto lipo so it has probably been on this whole time. You will probably get more runtime out of your non LIPO packs by turning the cutoff off while you arent using LIPOs.

Re: Ae-2 esc

How do I go about turning it on or off, how can I tell if it is on or off?

Re: Ae-2 esc

get a castle link and plug it in. you can change a few settings on the esc besides lipo cutoff. it's worth getting a link that way WHEN you add an external bec you can program it also!!

Re: Ae-2 esc

Is a castle link the only way to do it? What is a external bec?

Castle Link is the only way to program your AE-2 ESC. External BEC is a unit that gets spliced in with the battery power leads on your ESC. Castle Creations make a great BEC and the Castle Link will be useful for programming it too. That is what I did. :) If you search on here you can find out all the info you need on BECs.

You can manually program the AE-2 ESC also. The info is on Axials website. It sounds like a pain in the ass to do it this way but it can be done.
