servo

what servo should i use for my ax10? i need something for a good price and has enough torque to get me where i need to go. you guys will probably say use a hitec servo, but which one.

The 7954 is the best priced of the high torque hitec servos but I would not buy another. I stripped the gears out within 30 minutes of use.. Warranty oversee it once but who knows next time.. Plus.. Gear sets are nearly $50.. For $44 you can get a hitec 5645.. It has decent torque at 160 or so and it only cost $17 for a complete gear set..
If money is no concern then spend big for a titanium geared hitec like the 7955 or 7980..
If your on a real budget id go with a tower pro 946r or 996r from deal extreme.. Both have 208oz of torque and metal gears.. They have been awesome for me.. I have the 996 and a 995 and run both on a castle creations BEC at nearly 7 volts.. They are tough and so cheap.. About $12-14 with free shipping..

Re: servo

OP, a ~200inoz servo is likely fine for your needs. I would look at a HiTec 7955 or the Tower Hobbies "CS" equivilant.

At ~200inoz, you are on the borderline of needing an external BEC.

We run 7955's in comp 1.9's (2S LiPO.....maybe external BEC), but jump to 7950's or 7954's for 2.2 comp rigs. We run 3S LiPO and external BEC's on the 2.2's.

The 7955, 7950 & 7954 are all "standard sized" servos."thumbsup""thumbsup"

All my HiTec's are coreless digital.........;-)

Yeppers...my bad.....Coreless which is not the same as brushless......hazards of 16 hour days (6 days a week.)

Dang....nice specs on the Futaba (sticker shock though.....)....TowerHobbies.com | BLS157HV Futaba BLS157HV High Voltage Ultra Torque Servo
