| AE-2 BEC & Servo Recommendations?
I was wondering what kind of experiences people have had with the AE-2 on 7.4v (or about) with high torque servos and the standard BEC. Does anyone know if the BEC specifications are published (i searched first but most saying it's a 5v BEC, but not sure on the amp rating?) I've got around 10oz in each front wheel of a 1.9 rtr honcho. The standard servo can't cope. I've got a spare Tower Pro MG959 i'm going to try. I know they're terrible, but for an all weather trail rig i'm hoping it's better than the standard. Will i have any problems with the standard BEC? Can anyone recommend a servo from hobbyking which is less than $30 and i could use on the standard BEC without killing it? Reason for not wanting to run a CC BEC is in the UK it's really expensive |

Can you look at ebay usa? If you can find a seller that ships to the UK you can find great deals on CC BEC and Hitec servos....you name it. Just my opinion. The CC BEC are $19.95USD....I live in Canada and have had great luck from ebay. |

It's something i've thought about. Extra wirey mess, extra waterproofing needed, extra (not great) soldering from me. Price is the main reason though, i get stung with taxes a lot of the time when i order outside Europe. Not going to go for it. I appretiate the advise though. I'll only do it, if the standard BEC can't cope and shuts down. On that topic, will it shut down or fry if it overheats? |

ESC's & RX's usually just shut down if overloaded due to servo draw. You may kill the ESC if overloaded enough times. My rule of thumb, over ~200inoz NEEDS an external BEC. |
