Default T-Stomper motor?

I got a trail stomper recently. I'm using it for fun, scale rig. Not really doing any comp or such with it. I've searched some, but no answer found yet, so I wanted to to know how to get a little more speed out of this truck but still have some good torque. Do I change the motor, or is it the gearing in the transmission maybe? Or both?

Any help would be appreciated.

you can put a faster motor in it or put a larger motor pinion gear on it. according to rc4wds site it comes with a 45t motor, i would throw a 35t motor in it to get the spped you are looking for as its a common crawler/scaler motor.

Alright, thanks I'll keep that in mind and search for that size motor.

What about a 27t motor?

If you put the 27t use the stock pinion.

If I use a 35t motor should I change the pinion? Or still use stock also.

with a 27t i would use the smallest pinion that will mesh properly with the transmission gear and for a 35T likely a tooth or 2 higher

+1....the other option (if the ESC will handle it) is to up the pack voltage. If you're running 2S LiPO, go to 3S.

So I know this is old, but I haven't done anything on the stomper for awhile. Well while moving things around today, I just happened to notice that the motor is a 35t, not the 45t. Not sure why I didn't realize this sooner.
With that in mind should I possibly just change the gearing to get more speed, and to what?

either up the pinion tooth count a few or up the battery voltage since the rc4wd outcry esc will handle up to 4s lipo (with external cutoff) or 12cell nicd/nimh

It feels like it tops out gearing wise. I have a pretty big battery pack in it, not lipo, but bigger nihm. I guess Im going to venture into gearing.

i think they come with the outcry and lowest reccommended turn is 35t so id be carefull if you go to 27t....a 35 from 45 should be good for you and just go up 1 size pinion....you should be about 5mph faster then stock that way

By pack size I'm assuming you are referring to mah???? That is a small part of it, what is the voltage on the pack??

That is about a 2S LiPO voltage, going to 3S will give a boost in power.....depending on whether or not your ESC can handle it.

to the esc handle it part...the outcry in the t stomper can handle up to a 4s lipo...and its 5v-32 volt turbo bec so you can run basically anything up to a 4s lipo.....ive got the same esc so i know that.....im newer to scale but in the race world of rc for each tooth pinion you go up you gain about 2mph top speed....but you need to watch for overdoin it......i personally say your best bet is to keep the 35t motor...go up 2 pinion sizes....and move to lipo(((2s 35c any mah or a 3s 20-30c any mah))) youll see a difference and hobbypartz.com blue lipo good deals and reliable
