Default bad motor connection

so i traded my Lnc for an scx10 and it has traxxas esc and reciever. i cant get my motor to run and ive re soldered and swithed to butt connectors. are the traxxas waterproof esc's known for this

Did you try running the motor direct from a battery pack to make sure it actually works?
Is the battery charged?
Did you calibrate the ESC to your radio?
Does anything light up when you plug in a charged battery? (Does the ESC have an on/off switch....)
What motor?
Are you trying to run a brushed motor on a (possibly) brushless ESC??
