| SV2 sketchy... HELP
I got an XR with dual SV2's. I just hooked them up and found that one of my esc 's seems to throw things out to lunch. When it's plugged in it basically shuts the whole rig down then it turns it back on and then off and on. When it's off it has no steering no throttle from anywhere. The LED on my 4pl rx turns red then flashes green and it goes for one sec then stops again. I double checked my programming and both esc's are the same. If I unplug that esc it all goes away and I can drive the front axle fine. I tried flipping the troubled esc to a different channel and it still does it. Any guru's out there? Help please. |

Well if I plug it in and disconnect the motor it doesn't do it... Bad motor? To much load? I can't see it being to much load... it literally stops after a half second. Should I turn the end bell so I don't have to have the rear esc with the motor direction "reverse"?

I know all my wiring is right. The rear is in reverse the front is in normal. I've narrowed it down to when my heat sinks touch... I have them de-cased and facing each other. If the heat sinks don't touch it's fine but when they touch it does it. Odd because I've seen lots of guys flip them into eachother and never mention any problem. Any one got an idea? I could pop the heat sinks off of just don't have them facing each other |

Are the small red wires from both ESC's connected to the RX? (should only have 1 connected). Are you running an external BEC? If so, is it direct to the RX or direct to the servo? If to the RX, then NEITHER small wires from the ESC's should be connected to the RX. If the external BEC is direct to the servo, only have one small wire from the ESC's connected. I would try to insulate the heatsinks from each other. Check for other shorts. |

BEC is direct to rx. neither red wires is hooked up... I know the wiring is right. I'll have to insulate the heat sinks I guess.. Just crawled all over my couch with no issues. |

its odd that the heatsinks touching would cause this as i have 2 original sidewinders heatsink to heatsink then shrink wrapped together. its possible the sv2s have something touching the heatsink that when you touch the 2 together its slightly shorting them together, so like you are doing the best thing is to keep them apart

I think I figured it out. As nice as silicone is around the wire is can get the smallest holes! It looks like the wires were touching the heat sinks ever so slightly and it wore through the silicone and must have been shorting out. Put some tape around the spots and it seems to be working now. I also had the heat sinks interlaced in such a way that they were very close to the capacitors so I moved them over one tooth and now they have more room in case that was it too.

May not have figured it out... Even with the holes covered and all solder joints re-done to make sure they are all good it still does it once in a while. Here's the funny part, I'm using a 4pl if and I move the negative motor wire that runs to the rear on one side of the esc to the other side where my positive is it stops! WTF? I thought 2.4 shouldn't get interference? I've looked at that joint on the board and it looks great. IDK what would cause this?

2.4ghz radios are "relatively" immune to electrical noise....but not 100% immune. The older AM/FM radios were not so lucky. |

Ya that's gotta be it. I crawled all night with the wire running with the positive and didn't have one issue

Most ESC manuals suggest twisting the motor wires together from the ESC to the motor to reduce noise issues. Moving your motor wires helps the same. Hope it continues to work, thanks for posting back to help close the loop. |
