Default Confused, how to set Timbuk2, 18.5 Ballistic and DX3C for drag brake

Hey guys - I recently adjusted my throttle trim through the DX3C to +22, this is the exact number that allows my SCX to coast when off of throttle without acting like it slams on the brakes when I let go of the trigger. But I have no drag brake, when coasting if I trigger reverse it just locks up or slams the trans into reverse aggressively. What do I need to do with this thing, it's so damn complicated haha

I've read the instructions and I read it as saying the Timbuk 2 has the drag brake already in use from standard out of the box setup.

you need your trim set to 0 where you calibrated the esc to in order to have drag brake. drag brake only is active at no throttle so when u adjusted the trim for it to coast it wont see neutral so there wont be drag break.

Alright, I set that back to Zero and redid the "easy setup" procedures. Just as before, it acts as if the brakes get slammed on when I release the trigger. The steepest parts of my driveway or yard don't even phase it, it just sits like it's in park. On the Timbuk2 ESC, the yellow LED is on, which indicates "the drag brake setting is at a level above 0%"

I still don't follow.

*edit - sounds like it may be set to Power Hill/Hold Brake instead of Drag brake maybe?

I've got my wraith with timbuk2 set up at 0% for general bashing. The stock setup is pretty aggressive. Try 0%, then work your way up. Zero % should be selection #1. Consult your manual on how to adjust the setting.

That was right. It was set at level 8/10, which is hill hold. I didn't read the fine print that the factory Timbuk2 setting for a Wraith is 5/10 so I set it there. Seems more to my liking.

And about the coasting with upped throttle trim, I'm into mud so I went with the Timbuk2 with Rock Boost, it advances the timing after about 1 second of full throttle to absolutely smash like a 2 speed. When the wheels don't coast I accidentally flip it when the wheels lock up at speed, or even at slow speed, down a steep grade. Tires lock up, rig flips forward.

Aha! Got it, it's all about the drag brake. like was said, it's set really aggressively. I went down to 1/10 or 0% and have coasting! but I still need some drag so I'll have to play with that.

Thanks guys!

* best I can get from the drag brake considering how fast my SCX is, had to set it to 2/10, which is 40% drag. It still basically slams on the brakes but it's much less harsh. I guess I'll set it to 3, or 60% since it's a crawler first. So .. now the question is, how to get coasting when I bash AND drag brake while I crawl. Any answers other than re-programming every time I change style - which is every time. Crawl rocks, oh hey, a beach let's race on the sand, oh back to rock, crawl that log, spin donuts in the sand, bash that creek ... ??

Set your drag brake where you want it for crawling. If you switch to general driving, trim your throttle up so the drag brake doesn't engage, like you described earlier. Another rock pile?? Trim it back to zero so you have drag brake again. Sounds like it might work??
