well guys i was running a mild 2s lipo 4000mah 30c gens ace hardcase like i always run and i was slowly making my way through my livingroom pillow course lol when the entire body filled with white electrical fire smoke and then started pouring out from underneath the body then i saw the flames i frantically started to pull all four body clips off at the same time and rip the body off which by the way had almost caught fire as well, i know it was risky but to stop the flames i ripped the lipo out of the truck and the terminals came off the esc with the bec as well, the smoke stopped and when it settled this is what i ended up with

. I had the same thing happen in my boat las week. Speed controll looked worse, just a melted glob. The wire melted the solder off the positive terminal of the motor.. It landed and adhered to the negative terminal... *Luckily this happened right when I picked it up out of he water.... I luckly was able to unplug the battery before it killed it.... The boat stinks so damn bad from the smoke I can't even keep it in my RC room anymore!!! This is about a tenth of the smoke that was initially pouring out..*

It's a brushed motor....ESC vendor is not an issue.

My opinion is (in no particular order):

Tekin FXR
CC ESC (multiple choices)
HH BR-XL

The choice sorta depends on the voltage in, if you want to run brushless later, size for the ESC in your rig.....

I had the same thing happen to an fxr in my rig,the double sided tape came loose and it fell into a link bar and shorted the terminals where they are exposed instantly went into flames!!I was running 3s at the time of the fire, sent it to tekin and a week and half later a brand new in the box fxr was at my doorstep no questions asked, and no reciept,I would recommend tekinawesome product and customer service

If you never plan to go brushless the BRXL (also available in waterproof, so if water is in your future this is the only game in town, IMO) is a great option. I like the Mamba Max Pro myself. Once you get past the size, its a great system, and you can run sensored brushless later on. But if size is an issue, the FXR is another great option. All around future proof, bang for the buck my money is on the MMP in a scaler.

OK, this puzzle is solved! you guys drive your rigs too hard and are stupid for letting them burn! (unless you did the smart thing and yank it out!)
