Default EVX 1 and titan 775

Will the original orange case EVX handle a titan 775? I called Traxxas this morning and they are not sure if it will work, and i want to use the same EVX in my Min-E-Maxx with the new motor that I'm shoe-horning into it. If i cant use the EVX i may try to get an EVX-2 off ebay and relegate the EVX to duty in my spare Emaxx.

i know the evx2 will run it.
the evx might. it handles the same turn 550's the evx2 runs.i know it dont like lipos,it will kick into protection and shut down until the pack voltage drops some

I use 2 6 cell packs on the EVX so LiPO isn't a concern. The new EVX2's do have a lvc so i may go that route sometime in the future, but for now just want to use what i have to keep the budget down. Anyone know the motor limit on the EVX1?

Glad i haven't hooked it up yet. That would have been a costly mess. Thanks for the help guys. Looks like I'm now in the market for an EVX2. Is there another speed control that will do what i need for cheaper? EVX2's are running about $80 on the bay, which isn't bad but i would like to keep the budget as low as possible (and keep the wife happy!).

may not hurt to go poke around the traxxas fourm. they might know something we dont. alot of esc's have different motor limits depending on the can size.
i think the XL5 has a 15T limit when running a 540 can, but a 12T limit when running a 550 can. iv seen many esc's list motor limits like that. for some reason the bigger the can the lower the motor limit.

I did a little more phone work and I don't think its going to be work the risk to the EVX (its been a great ESC so far) so i may just pick up another ESC to power that soup can of a motor we fondly call the 775. Other than the EVX2 what could i use to power the rig?

Not quite apples to apples there, the 19 turn limit is on a PAIR of 550's, not a single 10 turn 775. If you do a search I bet you'll find somebody that did some data logging on the Summit when it first came out and you'll see how much current the motor pulls in a real-world situation. Finding a used EVX-2 is a pretty cost efficient way to go.

Other ESC's that I've used that would handle the 775 are:

Holmes Torquemaster BR-XL - up to 6s and 80A continuous
Castle Mamba Max Pro - up to 6s and 80A continuous

There are certainly more out there but those are the one's we've used.

I think the EVX2 will be the best choice for me. The fact that it is waterproof is a huge plus, and it comes with a warranty. I'll reuse the EVX in my spare 3906 Emaxx so i don't feel bad about having to purchase another ESC.
