Default Crawler cuts out

First things first.

AX-10 with Pro-line tuber body
Sidewinder ESC
35T Integy motor
Hi tech steering servo
overdrive gears in the front
CC BEC
home made 10 LED lighting plugged into the receiver

What happens is it will cut out like it loses power but the lights stay lit but only for a few seconds then it comes right back on. I run it on a 2s 5400 20c pack. At first I thought it was because I didn't have a BEC so I added one. Tried it again and it still does it. Then I tried a 3s pack, Still happened. I'm at a loss, what do I try next.

Have you tried disconnecting the lights?

Well I thought about that but they have been hooked up from the beginning. first time around before the BEC they were plugged into the battery spot on the ESC now I have them plugged into the 3rd ch spot. I'll try it and see what happens.

Is the bec going to the rx or directly to the servo? Whats it set to?

Edit: Anything getting hotter then normal?

I've got the BEC going to the receiver, it's set to 6 volts and nothing is getting hot.

Well those are the basics and it still sounds like a brown out. Which Hitec servo are you running?

Unplug your servo and drive around a bit and see if it happens.

I think it is a faulty servo that is causing you problems. If you are loosing both steering and throttle input then it does sound like a brownout, is the ESC arming again when it comes back on?

No it doesn't rearm, just starts going again.

My guess is you're hitting the LVC, try turning it off and see what happens.
What battery connectors are you running? If Tamiya, that could also be an issue.

So you're saying turn the LVC off? I'm running Deans plugs. New battery and re-soldered the end on the ESC. It did it with the 3s battery too.

As suggested above a bad servo maybe or something else. I had thought about the LVC too Charlie but he said the lights stay on and their getting power through the rx. They should cut out if the LVC is being tripped right? Edit: no that's not right!

What about the TX/RX do you have another to try? Maybe your losing the signal for some reason.

It was doing this before, I just switched to a 4PL from a spectrum, that was my first attempt at fixing it. I unplugged the servo and it still cuts out.

Dang super your making this hard.

Not the servo. Faulty or overpowering the system.
Not the tx/rx. Same issue with new 4PL
BEC has enough voltage for the servo and RX. Same issue before the BEC.
Same issue with the lights unplugged.
Deans plugs.
New batt.

That leaves the motor and esc.

Do you lose steering and throttle or just one of them?

I lose steering and throttle. I replaced the motor with a brand new one and I'll let you guess what happend. I'm gonna try and turn off the LVC just to cover all of the bases.

LVC wont cut out steering just throttle, at least none of my ESC's do.

Possibly a bad connection between ESC and RX, maybe a bad solder joint or badly worn wire could show these signs. I would go through everything and just make sure it is all in good condition.

It may be worth it to get a cheap RX pack (just a AA one is fine) and use that to power the RX to take everything out of the equation. If it still isnt working im not sure where that will leave you though.

I'll check everything over real close maybe wiggle some wires while its running. Isn't my BEC acting like a receiver pack? I've got it plugged into the receiver.

Double check the BEC output voltage, I've had some just "die".
Now that you have an external BEC running to the RX, did you pull the red wire out of the plug that goes from the ESC to the RX? This is to prevent 2 BEC's from powering the RX.
Carefully pop the red wire out of the plug & cover it in tape.
