Question Lipo's in tx

This sounds like a stupid question, but why do some radio makers tell us not to use lipo batteries in the radio? I know li-fe batteries are safer. Is that the only reason. Not that safety is not a concern, but I haven't found any other reason.

Usually because there is no LVC in the radio. Thus you can over-discharge the pack.

Yes, they do not have a low voltage cutoff built into the system. Just find a battery that will fit and that is will work in the range of the input voltage. I have a mx3fg that inputs 12 volts. I have a 3 cell and it takes 12.6 volts fine. I monitor the voltage via the battery voltage menu screen. I know how long it can go between charges.

The battery is a cheap china battery that sells for 11 dollars on ebay. Has the same connector that i need. Type in your transmitter and lipo and it will come up with some. Make sure the description lists your transmitter. It may take a couple weeks to get if it's from China

Thanks for the info guys. I have some 2s cell lipo's hanging around and was wanting to use them. I just hate AA's and like the long time the lipo's have between having to charge them.

Cool Re: Lipo's in tx

I've been running a 3s 11.1 in my mxsport for about a year, with no ill effects. I just wait till my voltage gets down to 10 or so, then re-charge, then your good for another bazillion hrs, give or take.

It doesn't matter. The tx can only draw what it wants to draw
