Leaving Lipo in TX?

Just thinking about putting Lipo in my GT3B.. But Im wondering?? Ive always put my lipos into storage mode if Im not using them in a few days etc... So should I continue to do this with my tx lipo? Or would it be safe to just leave it in the case like I would with nimh?? thanks for the answer guys!! Also anyone know if a 40c 1300mah 3s batt in the GT3B will be fine?? Appreciate the help!

I say a lipo's a lipo, so you would treat it as any other lipo in your collection. With that said, I have one in my gt3b that I charged a few months ago and it's been sitting in the toolbox in the radio unused, but every time I turn it on to check it it's still around 12v. I don't normally do that, but I've been busy and lazy with it

HK makes a 3s 1300 mah (I think) specifically for this radio, search gt3b - lipo and there is info readily available as to which batt.

the one you want is a very low c rating, I think that's why it's designed for that radio, as well as why mine is still holding voltage

Y would the c rating make any diff?? The rx is only going to pull what it needs anyway right??

I dunno, would you put a Hemi in a shopping cart, probably more than is needed :ror:

As a matter of fact I would put a V8 in a shopping cart!! LMAO.. However it would be an LS not a hemi! Thanks for the link to the batt!

Correct. The reason it was brought up was that you DON'T need a high "C" rated pack, thus saving money.
If you already had a high "C" rated pack, it wouldn't hurt anything if you used it.

Same here, I leave it in there all willy nilly. But I do check the voltage just by cycling power once a weekend if there isn't a gtg, usually it gets used on weekends though.

A 3s1800mah20c pack fits perfect and even a lil tight, had to shave part of the batt door. But the runtime for the tx is awesome. Agreed a low c pack is all thats needed, the tx doesn't draw much amperage.

Can you put a LiFe battery in a GT3B? If so, that's another option.

more on the actual question.....no you do not need to put the lipo in storage mod if its only sitting a few days....if its sitting for long periods of time is when it needs to be put into storage mode...same as with the lipos that run your rigs...if they sit maybe a week at a time no storage mod is needed.....
