Brown out?

So my ax-10 is having issues that I never had before. When I turn the steering it shuts down and then I release the wheel and everything come on again. Turn the servo again and the symptoms reappear. This crawler is about three years old.

Setup: Novak rooster esc, 55 turn Integy motor, 3 ch futaba 2.4 ghz receiver, 3s lipo and a hitec 7559 servo.

I would start by checking how free the steering works (binding can pull large loads), then check the steering EPA's. The radio should stop turning the servo just before the steering linkage just before mechanical bind.

If those are OK, then you may be ready for an external BEC for the servo.

I agree w/ Charlie, check your EPA's.

But with a 3S LiPo, you're pretty much needing a BEC.

Novak has a BEC, not sure if you can adjust the output voltage on it.
ElectriFly has one that has a switch for 5 or 6 volts.
Castle has the 10 amp BEC, and the 20 amp BEC Pro. Both require the CastleLink to adjust output voltage.

I believe CreationFab and Holmes Hobbies both offer bypass plugs to run your BEC straight into the servo. Plug and play for only another $5-$6, no pulling and taping off wires.
