Default Novak Rooster Soldering

Hey folks I have a small issue I was looking for some advice on, I recently bought a rig for parts and on it was the Novak rooster esc but where the previous owner had cut the motor wires going to it he left me with about 40mm of cable coming off the esc so my question is, is it ok to de solder the original wires and replace them? If so do I need to strip it down at all? Or should I try and stick a connector on there? last thing I want to do is ruin a nearly new esc as they are a big enough pain in the ass to get over here in the uk as it is.

Frankly, I would solder a longer length of wire to what is currently there. Make sure to heat shrink it when done.
