Self centering thumb wheel pot?

Hi guys,

I'm trying to smash a full size 2.4mhz radio into a radio shack 4x2x1 project box to make a 'micro radio' for my losi micro.

I'd like to see if I can replace throttle pot/trigger with something smaller so I wanted to see if anyone has a good source for a self centering thumbwheel pot. I want to put that in the corner of the box (or side) and use thumb for throttle, and a 1/24 wheel for steering.

Functionally, what I think I want is like this:

But I think the quality/price for the CH thumbwheel is way too much ($92/per) for what I'm trying to build. Anybody have any other ideas or sources?

Or is there something similar I can gut off of something else (like a broken game controller, etc?).

That might actually do it, though I'm concerned about the resolution (I think it said '8' in the specs). I like that site, lots of fun goodies there!

This isn't actually what you asked for, but it would let you put both steering and throttle on one control. A mini joy stick:

I'm pretty sure there is pot in it, it'll do what you need
