While I am sure it can be done....you end up with two very heavy and expensive speed controllers, two fairly pricey motors....lots of wires and then you get so-so performance at best.

We did it last year, it performed very well and wasn't much heavier than a brushed setup. Picking a small ESC is key, hardly anything "fits" in the XR10 to begin with but it can be done!

Has anyone ran sensorless motors? I assume they would have to be geared very low to get good bottom end power

The power on the low end is just 1 issue with sensorless, the cogging (jerking at slow speeds) is what will kill you in an inrunner. In theory an outrunner would be good, good low end, gobs of tourqe, little cogging, and it's light. But the rotating can would cause placing/ rubbing issues, plus dragging it across rocks would not be good.

Sensorless brushles motors they rattled/switched little at slow moving action (tested with ezrun)

But...

My SpeedPassion sensored crawler combo dosen't do it by slow moving action and its revs very slow with out any problems and powerfully . I'm very happy with it

Can you give some more info please? I'm looking for a smaller than stock (axial 20t motor) brushless system around 13.5 or 17.5T to put in a shafty rock racer along with a small ESC. I would like to use tekin, castle creations or Holmes hobbies. Any one have suggestions?
