Default Brushless with vents waterproof?

Ya, I went camping this weekend, and drove in the sand a bit, who am I kidding. ALOT! I screwed over my 27t. So I said what the heck? I'll get a brushless system. I was lookin at the tacon sensored motors, but they have vents for cool ing, and I was wondering if that is waterproof.

Thax for the expertise

the motor itslf should be fine where your going to run into trouble is it bein sensored, i have a 18.5 t ballistic brushless motor, its sensored and i took the sensor ring out and waterproofed it and mine works fine in water after modification , but the motor itsself, with vents should be fine, but if ur palnning on running it sensored i would suggest staying away from water.

The sensor board needs waterproofed unless you want to run it sensorless. Just be sure to let it dry out after water and clean it out after running in sand

it's not gonna matter if it has vents or not. the problem comes in with the sensor and sensor wire. you will have to pull the motor apart, get the sensor ring and waterproof it, then you will need to seal up the port where the sensor wire plugs in so water doesn't get into the contacts. even a motor without vents in the can will get water and crud inside it if you run in water, sand, mud. also remember that you will have to waterproof all the rest of the electronics to keep them alive to!

All the other elects are already water resistant. I just need to find what motor to get.

Traxxas Velenion is what you need. Comes water-proof.

That was my plan! to me the traxxas 3s esc is like the anything, and everythink esc.I am just searching for a cheapish sensored motor, unless u can crawl with a sensorless motor, then ill just get the traxxas velenion motor.

Anything sensored should be waterproofed and crawling sensorless is not a good idea.

Rrunning a sensorless BL is not ideal, but with appropriate gearing you can minimize the cogging effects that plague sensorless BL. I personally run a Velenion in my SCX10. I understand it's limitations in the low end/fine control dept. and I'm cool with that. No, I wouldn't use it in a comp crawler, but for my general trail running duties it work well for me.
