need a brushless motor smaller than axial 20t I need some input on a brushless motor that is physically smaller than the axial 20T motor. Anyone have any suggestions??? |
Check out some of the smallish outrunners. Although depends on the weight of your rig whether or not it'll be up to the task. |
Re: need a brushless motor smaller than axial 20t Physically smaller in length and diameter or smaller in power? The stock Axial 20t is a 540, the next standard size down would probably be considered the 380 size. Those tend to be pretty small and may not have enough power for your needs. What are your goals and why do you need the smaller motor? We can help better the more info we have "thumbsup" |
Re: need a brushless motor smaller than axial 20t Looking for something around 3300kv but about the size of a Holmes hobby 35T. Needs to be shorter than a axial 20t motor. Diameter is fine. I need rock racing speed that will fit in a chassis smaller than a stock AX10 skid plate. Or very close in size. |
Re: need a brushless motor smaller than axial 20t 540 brushed are usually a little larger than 540 brushless motors. |
Re: need a brushless motor smaller than axial 20t Velineon 380? They are pretty small, but they are rated for 4000KV. Not sure if that would work for you or not. Traxxas - Velineon 380 Motor (#3371) - Overview | traxxas.com |
Re: need a brushless motor smaller than axial 20t yeah not sure if that would or not. Its going on a FBII chassis. When mounted up the back of the stock axial 20T motor hits the metal chassis side piece in the back. I could make it fit with notching it out about 2-3mm but I don't want to hurt the integrity and strength of the side plate. Its gonna need the strength. not so much for twisting but just the amount of bouncing its gonna do. |
Re: need a brushless motor smaller than axial 20t I just picked up a Tacon 2848-540xl which is a little longer than the brushed 540. There is a shorter size 2838 which is pretty stubby. Not sure how much torque it has. It's smooth enough (the one I picked up) down low, but certainly not a crawler motor. |
Re: need a brushless motor smaller than axial 20t If you could find one, Tamiya used to do an Acto tuned brushed motor for the M-Chassis that was shorter in length than a standard 540 can, I used to have one in a buggy a few years ago, quite pokey too. (53251) Not sure how you'd have to gear it to get the speeds you want but it's an idea. Other than that, I think you'll be looking for an outrunner brushless, but I've never used one personally. |
