Traxxas 3m vxl system on Scx10?

Hey guys,

I am trying to find the cheapest brushless system that's waterproof. Im not going sensored, and I like the traxxas systems. I'm just trying to find if the traxxas vxl 3m system would work. I know that the traxxas motors are foggy, and don't like to go slow, but I don't care.if it works it works and that's what I would like to know

Thx

I think you will be alright as long as you gear it conservatively and monitor your temperatures.
If it can power an almost 2.5lb mini revo past 50, it should be able to power the SCX10 to a good top speed.
The finned EZRun motors are 380 size as well, and HPI is selling them in its Bullet line of trucks, which look even heavier than the Axial.

I'd compare prices and features with other ESCs out there before buying the VXL-3M as there are more waterproof options out there now then there was a year ago, and you might be overlooking a better product.

I have had great luck with the VXL in my Honcho when running in the right terrain. It is a blast in the more open ,sandy, muddy terrain and only works "OK" for rock crawling no matter how low you gear it in my opinion.

i had the VXL 3M in my scx10 before i sold it, did just fine!

you will need the motorplate adapter for it though, which i got of Ebay for like 10.00

just to be clear, do you mean the vxl 3s or the 3m? The 3s is the one that fits on the axial motor plate. the 3m is the micro, anyway i have a 3s on my wraith and really enjoy it. The downside of it is that you need to get really low in order to get the cogging to a minimum, I'm running 32p gears 9/60 and the cogging is almost gone. also due to having no drag brake will make you a more precise driver.

the OP mentioned the 3M, so yea...it worx but needs a motorplate to install.

tried browsing ebay with no luck? hmmm
but its an adapter plate from 550 to 380 sized motor.

i have one right now on my sprint2 using the vxl3m esc and brushless motor w/x2 stickpacks. blazing quick for the little thing it is!

FORDROX97, did you get that brushless system in your SCX10? sounds like it will be wicked fast but i'm wondering how it acts at low speed. i would anticipate cogging might be a major problem at low speeds and scaling/trailing-type running.

i dont have it yet, as i need to gain funds. but my cousin has a 1 16 slash vxl, and it coggs up to about 20 mphs! But the gearing on the scx10 should cancel alot of it out. just read the rest of the thread. thats is what helped me.
