| on off switch
Ok so I just had an idea and wanted to get some feedback. How I have my electronics set up when I plug the battery in it powers at least my reciver and servo because I'm running 2 bec's. Now my thought on this is that If I put a switch in between the power wire what type of switch would I need to keep up with a 3s lipo? Last edited by jthellfire911; 06-11-2012 at 10:46 PM. |

The goal would be the ability to shut off the power from your electronics without having to pull the battery. IE. if i plug in my battery all my electronics automatically start up. This would save on time having to pull bodies and stuff to turn on or off the rig and still have the battery plugged in and ready to go. also if the switch were to fail you would be able to pull it out of the rig and use the battery just like normal by plugging it into the esc deans instead. just a thought. Most folks here remove the switches on purpose. It saves weight and removes an element that can fail from the electronics. You also wouldn't want to leave a lipo sitting in the rig when you store it. Much safer to put them in a fireproof container. I'm sure what you suggest can be done but IMO your better off just unplugging the battery. |

What new2it said, but if you (like me) do want a switch don't do it your way! A battery switch will likely just add unwanted resistance to the main feed. Better to have a 2-pole switch acting on the feed to the BECs and replace the ESC's switch. * One pole on the switch simply replace the ESC's switch. * The second pole take the battery "+" in and go to both BECs' "+" feed. This way you effectively cut all power when the switch is off, provided the ESC isn't broken. |

I would like a switch for my power also. I would like to put one inside my wraith. I run the vxl-3s system and it doesn't have an on off switch to tap into.

Sorry, they are just the silver plated, and not gold plated Deans. Plus it was a good exercise for learning the new CAD package that I need to figure out. |

anyone know of any rigs/builds sporting this sort of setup? looking for inspiration as to mounting locations for such a disconnect. i've got an on/off switch to kill power for short durations (up to an hour-ish). it's wired to everything except my wireless bulldog winch (which uses a Y-harness for power) since I don't always plug the winch in -- but I'd still like to be able to fully kill the power and not have to keep pulling the body to get at the battery for those longer periods of non-use (like an hour+). |

for a quick like 1 hr off when out on the trails without having to pop the body they have the hd push button on/off switches that alot of bodies can have em mounted in the bed close to the cab....... drill your size hole in the spot you want it stick button through and then a screw can holds it in if its up in the bed a roll over wouldnt accidently hit it or anything.....and just leave enough wire underneath body so you have enough to remove the body when you need to or same thing some of the tiny 2 way switches can run loads of volts through em but eventually the body will always come off anyways, lol as for the guy with the vxl i dont know there...im sure it can be opened and have a switch added and then re-waterproofed |
