| FXR or Micro mamba pro
I need a new esc for my sportsman rig ax10 based, it will be run at 3s and hh tm pro 45t, the target weight is mid 4lb. I am using hh brxl and while I am happy with the performance, the size and weight are its biggest disadvantage. And because mine is a waterproof version, I cannot shorten any wire. Which esc is better in terms of size, drag brake, smoothness. Any comment will be welcomed. |

Tough call between the two. The FXR has good thermal heatsinking and lower resistance, but the mamba micro pro is super light and tiny. I would say FXR for dependability. Sidewinder Micro would be a good superlight choice.

I agree with John. But I will say that the thing the Castle has over the FXR is drag brake and throttle smoothness. The FXR is a nice speedo... Dont get me wrong. But the castle ones are better and have a stronger drag brake. Personally, I am a castle nut through and through. The programming on a computer is much easier on a castle than an FXR in my opinion. But that's just me |

I would say they are pretty equal in most aspects, but Castle has a better warranty. 1 year vs 120 days for Tekin.

I am a Castle fan as well or at least whatever ESC that uses the castle link program. I am keen to use Castle again for my Spm, so it will be either Mamba Micro Pro or Micro Sidewinder. I am not sure if the Micro Sidewinder can handle the pwer requirement of a SPM better than Mamba micro pro?

I knew that the mmp and Msidewinder are the same, except that the mmp has the heatsink, correct me if I'm wrong... and if you have the castle link you can set your esc really fast |

I know running micro sidewinder in moa rig is very popular at the moment, but how many run spm rig with this esc? The load could be significant higher because there is only esc and motor to drive a 4-6 lb rig. I ordered one micro sidewinder today and will give it a go. If it get hot or struggle, I can always buy another one to run them on my moa rig. |

I have been having some issues with the Traxxas XL-5 esc I was running in my scaler and was wondering if the Mamba Micro or Sidewinder Micro will run a 21T motor? I liked the XL for its waterproof but for the price they are garbage. Any suggestions? The FXR is an option for me but everything else I run has Castle in it and I have been happy in the past.

For something heavy like a wraith both the sidewinder micro and mamba micro would be a no go. They easily work on moa crawlers since they are only powering usually half the crawler (1 axle) and they usually aren't that heavy. And I would also not suggest a 21t motor as that's to much amp draw for either esc. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I had two mamba micros in my xr for over a year running 37t handwounds on 4s. The only problem I ever had was selling them. Sometimes that seemed like the best setup I have run.

I run dual FX-R's in my 2.2 Bully with 35T motors on 3S. It does OK. I run dual Sidewinder Micros in my 2.2 XR-10 with 35T motors on 3S. It's even better. The FX-R's are a nice small ESC that do well. The small Castle's are just a bit better in: -Throttle/brake curve adjustments -A bit smoother on start-up -Much better drag brake -Easier to program (with a CC Link), partly because you can save a profile and then load it into multiple CC ESC's. Yes, I also have a Tekin HotWire for programming. Both will work, I prefer the CC ESC's. | |

----------------------------------------------------------------------- I won't say anything bad about either. Maybe its my years of racing before ESC's were as adjustable, but I will always use radio adjustments more than ESC adjustments, because those are quicker, easier and able to be done on course without taking any penalty. I also adjust wheel and trigger tensions, something I've found people are not familiar with in RC Crawling, like it is in RC Racing segments. So my inputs are based on advanced tuning via the radio, maybe that makes a big difference. Stripped and decased tightly, the FXR's can be smaller. Their downside is the CAP being externally mounted, makes the foot print increase and become a bit less compact. Castles are cheaper though, can get 2 for about the price of 1 FXR. | |||
