Well I figure I'll post this here for you Puller guys out there...this is going back into my 2.2 KOH Tuber scale rig that DMG built the chassis for. Build thread in my signature. RTR weight with a 3000mah 30C 4s pack is about 12 pounds. I just rebuilt my Axial tranny tonight which failed on me during a GTG almost a year ago. Kept stripping spur gears and I actually broke the arm clean off the puller! Discovered it was from the stock Axial motor plate flexing...guess 4s + BRXL + 10T Puller + 12/87 48p gearing was too weak. Thanks to John at Holmes for custom winding a new arm for me! So reborn...regreased all my RRP steel internals, clean/relubed bearings, RRP Gen3 56T Slash Slipper, BWD FOFF motor plate, SuperShafty Axial AX10 Top Shaft. Gearing is now all mod .8 slipper cranked all the way down running 14/56 gearing on a 10T puller. Is this too high gearing on 4s? I noticed 3s was just not cutting it...this pig is just too heavy! Other option is I have a 5mm Robinson reducer to fit the 3mm shaft so I can run a hardened steel mod .8 12T pinion on the 56T steel spur. |
