Default MMP issue... i think i'm the issue.

I'm an idiot... let's go ahead and get that out of the way

So, in my haste to wire up my sidewinder micro, i accidentally cut the power wires on my MMP really short. Don't ask me why, i have no clue.. actually i didn't realize i had cut them that short until after the fact.

After wiring up the Sidewinder and having it overheat after 2 minutes and find out that it's really only up to the task of one motor, i decided to throw my trusty MMP back in. That's when i realized i had cut the wires really short... like 2 inches short

I soldered new wires on and went to plug it up... no beeps or chimes or anything. It's like it's not getting power. I took a picture to post but for some reason i dont see manage attachments so i can't show you all just how short.

What do you think? Is that why it's not getting power is because of those stupid short wires that i soldered to? Should i de-case and try to remove the wires from the board and solder longer ones on?

EDIT: Looks like no pictures because my star has expired...

As long as the solder connection is good there should be no issue with what you have done. Check all your connections.

I just checked and re-soldered the connection.. I still get nothing! Damn!

I will swing by the LHS tomorrow and see if they can help figure it out.

It worked perfectly before i took it off and cut the wires!

This may be a dumb suggestion but is there any chance you've got the wires reversed?

Are you sure you dont have a hung brush or something? Are you using a dig switch? Maybe that failed?

The MMP 1 cell doesn't have a on/off switch.. so as soon as you plug it in it turns on.

I'm very sure i dont have the wires reversed. I have the same red-to-red and black-to-black that i had before i cut the wires.

I tried it hooked up to a motor and not hooked up. I was just trying to set the end points and such on the ESC before putting it into the rig.

What about LED's? Do those light up?

Just wondering, it might be that you don't have it setup for your radio. If it's not (read the instructions) the esc won't arm and it will just set there.

Just a thought.

No LED's... It doesn't power up at all.

Took it to my LHS today. Told him exactly what happened... cut the wires, installed the sidewinder micro successfully, realized i was overtaxing the sidewinder with dual motors, cut the sidewinder off and soldered up the MMP again. He ran tests on it and tried several batteries but could not get anything out of it. He was puzzled. We took the case off and looked at the board and everything looked good. no sign of a burn smell either. We are going to send it in and see what castle thinks. My LHS is puzzled.

UPDATE:
Went back to visit my LHS after i left the rig there for the day. He said it took him forever to "kinda" figure it out but he thinks the BEC toasted which in turn caused a voltage spike to toast my ESC. We plugged a "resistor" (i think that's what it was) into the port on the receiver that had the BEC plugged in and the steering servo and dig turned on. Took the resistor back out and plugged the BEC up and nothing would work. Nothing we tried would power up the ESC. So, i had to buy a BEC and a new ESC!! Damn that was expensive.... but it get's better, i think my punk dig is toast too. It's not working. The green light turns on, but it will not switch.

Pretty bummed that it took that long to figure it out. I went to the mountains this weekend and had tons of great rock to crawl but didn't have the crawler since it's still in pieces on the bench. I didn't want to take it and not have a dig and then have to take it partially apart when i get home to fawk with the dig.

Now i'm really between a rock and a hard place because I have a new Rx/Tx thanks to Spectrum, a new castle sidewinder micro, a new castle MMP and a new BEC... and a toasted DIG. So what do i do?!!!

THere are only one positive and one negative power wires on the ESC. I cut them both. The three wires are three poles that you can solder to and they are all intact and fine.
