Default 27T create COGG??

Ok i have read and read and read various items from using search...

now I have a few things going on so would like to see what you think...

1. when i go from no throttle to full throttle i get a jitter out of my truck (i know a video is needed to explain )

the truck will jitter fwd an inch and stop.. let off trigger and do again and it will jitter again... if i slowly hit the throttle and go it is fine.. but once i start to clime something it will climb unless too steep.. it will start climbing then stop.. i try and hit the throttle and it jitters...

could this be the controller?

2. if i go to say a step in a house.. and try to climb.. it will go up to it and jitter back and forth.. is that COGG????

so i was going to try and use my 4 channel helicopter radio to see if it is the radio... so since im not on 2.4ghz.. i just took the crystal out of my axial controller and put it in the heli one... but wont sync.... not sure what else i have to do .. i figured frequency is frequency...

ill get a video of what im talking about later tonight... want to see if it is the 27T or radio or just me..

"Cogging" usually relates to unsensored brushless motors at low motor RPM.

In your case, you may be waaayyyyyy overgeared which is overloading the motor. If this is the case, the motor &/or the ESC are likely getting hot.
Your motor may also need some TLC, new brushes, comm cut, etc.

Under high initial loads (punch the throttle from a dead stop) you may be overdrawing the battery if:
1-It's a low "C" pack with a low "mah"
2-Poor connectors (like Tamiya connectors or cheap bullets to the motor)
3-A failing battery

Do you have the issue on other packs in the same rig?

As to swapping freq crystals, while is seems OK to do so, some are specific to a brand.

Need more info.

What kind of speed controller and motor?
What size pinion and spur gear?
What type of battery are you using (NiMH/Lipo)?

Yup, pics and maybe a vid will help.

DOH Unsensored Brushless.. ok COGG memory bank location updated

Motor is new.. well maybe 5 runs on it.. that is it..
Motor does not get hot AT ALL.. that was going to be a different post on gearing as it seems i wasnt geared too high so was going to go for more speed...

Motor: Axial 27T aka El Cheapo
connectors - Deans
Battery - unknown mah but not lipo and could be failing
only own 1 battery...

Speed Controller - AE-2
Motor - Axial 27T
Pinion - 20T
Spur - 87T
Battery - NiMH

something else to note is a few things...
1. when i go full throttle she doesnt seem to "move" quick.. squeeeeeze the trigger super hard and i get way more throttle
2. originally this truck had a tamiya to deans adapter in. I since removed the tamiya and put a straight deans on

i think i had better throttle response before i "cleaned" it all up... i originally had an issue because i thought it was the esc (ae-1) messing up... and wanted a brake so bought the ae-2

when i say cleaned it all up... i removed bullets from motor and esc and soldered/shrink tubed the wires... cut off the on/off switch...
not easy to tell but i think i didnt have these issues with this small clip... could spin the tires with ease.... maybe battery.. gonna look at lipo chargers and batteries now...

i can do 2s now.. or with bec 3s..what to do .. what to do....

old video.. not the best but it doesnt seem to show these symptoms.. my 12yr old isnt good at video let alone on my cell phone..

Actually sounds like he is running a 27T brushed motor.

Rootbreaker, did you calibrate the AE-2 to the RX after swapping it in??

Sounds like the Lipo cutoff is on on the ESC, they come factory set to on.

^^X2 cause your using nimh batt the low voltage is probably triggering it. Need a castle link to switch it. try your lhs they may change it for you.

i bought the castle link kit when i got the ae-2....

look right?
i know the brake and drag i had set as is here.. didnt think it did anything.. so i set them both to 0% so off.. now it drives and slows down.. not the hard brake.. so i have to figure out them 1 at a time!!!! i want whatever holds it on a hill at 100% and slow down from driving not so hard....

From your comments in post 4 & the settings in post 12, you look to have the basics covered.

Post 8 is confusing, when you calibrate the ESC to RX, you should have the throttle trim at "0" and throttle EPA's at 100% (including any subtrims).
Then you calibrate the ESC to RX.

Do you have any throttle expo in the TX? I prefer to do throttle curves in Castle/Castle based ESC's in the ESC itself.
IS ABS turned on? (it should be off).

I put an AE-2 in my wifes scx-10 and it would do the same thing with the NIMH batteries she had (YES lipo cutoff was turned off).. I upgraded her to 2s lipo and the problem went away completely.. So I'd go with weak batteries can't put out what the esc is trying to pull.

I'd say it's the battery too, I had more and more problems with cars and trucks doing this with Nimh batteries that in the end I gave up and switched everything to Lipo and haven't looked back since.
